  1. SUBJECT:  Strategy Tips for the GodFather of Crime Door Game - Issue #1

  5. Many people don't realize the amount of depth that exists in the 1930's
  6. based GodFather of Crime role playing door game.  This issue of GOC tips
  7. will focus on how to get ahead in the game and explore some of the less
  8. well known features, options and game strategies:
  9.  
  10. Tip #1.  The best way to survive in the game during the time you are a
  11.          crime family lieutenant is simply to get married as quickly as
  12.          you can.  Why marriage?  Getting married will allow you to have
  13.          up to two children.  If one of your children is a male then he
  14.          will become your heir should something untimely happen to you.
  15.          What does this mean?  Let's say you are killed on the streets
  16.          of New York by Thugs. If you have a son, then he will take over
  17.          where you left off and you will now play him.  As you can see
  18.          it is a limited form of immortality in the game.  If you have
  19.          a daughter then you can try to marry her off. What benefit can
  20.          you derive from this?  Well first you collect a cash dowery and
  21.          second anyone who marries her cannot do anything real bad to you,
  22.          nor can you do anything real bad to the player who married your
  23.          daughter. Afterall, you ARE related by marriage now. Marriage
  24.          and kids adds a whole new unique level of depth to the role
  25.          playing door game genre.
  26.  
  27. Tip #2   Treachery can be an interesting and fun option. How do you do it?
  28.          Well assuming that a fellow player has not locked his house door
  29.          to keep you out, then it is possible to travel to his home and
  30.          "visit" him.  Once inside his home you will be presented with a
  31.          menu of choices of the actions you can perform while there. One
  32.          of the choices is the Treachery Sub-Menu.  Once in that menu you
  33.          are offered six action choices:

  35.          a.  Incite a brawl:  You attempt to subvert his soldiers and
  36.          start a fight among them.
  37.  
  38.          b.  Rescue a Hostage:  If he is holding someone hostage that
  39.          belongs to you then this is a way to get them back.
  40.  
  41.          c.  Acquire information: Snoop around and see what you can learn
  42.          about that crime family.
  43.  
  44.          d.  Break into his safe:  Attempt to find his safe and break into
  45.          it to rob him of his money.
  46.  
  47.          e.  Take Hostage:  Try to kidnap one of his family members.
  48.  
  49.          f.  Plant Evidence: Plant some incriminating evidence which will
  50.          cause that player some problems with the law.

  52.          If you fail in any of these attempts you will be roughed up and
  53.          thrown out of the home. If this happens then the door will be
  54.          locked behind you so you cannot reenter unless that player
  55.          opens it again.

  57. Tip #3   Use the enforcers to commit actions which in most cases cannot be
  58.          traced back to you.  How do you hire an enforcer? Simple, just go
  59.          to the GodFathers Home and select the enforcer sub-menu.  You
  60.          will then be presented with a list of possible actions that the
  61.          enforcers can do AND you can afford. If you can't afford it, then
  62.          it will NOT be displayed.  Once hired the enforcer will immediately
  63.          set off to do the dastardly deed.  Sometimes they are NOT
  64.          successful and they are killed while performing the job. Oh well,
  65.          you can always come back another day and hire another enforcer,
  66.          assuming you can afford it that is...

  68. Tip #4   Need cash?  A good way to obtain it is to cruise the streets of
  69.          New York and try to eliminate any thugs you find.  The mafia
  70.          commission pays a reward for the head of each thug you knockoff.
  71.          Be warned! This is not as easy as it may seem.  Another method
  72.          to obtain more cash would be to invest in more and better
  73.          crime family businesses.  The only downside is that you must get
  74.          approval from your boss to start a business in his territory and
  75.          he gets a cut of your action.  When you become a boss someday then
  76.          you will get that cut!  Another good way to increase your cash,
  77.          assuming you like to gamble that is, is to go to the Newbound
  78.          Betting Parlor and bet on the ponies.
